Dance Training Support Program

New!

The Dance Training Support Program opens to more dance artists

In order to support the resumption of training for dance artists during this recovery period, the RQD is expanding access to its Dance Training Support Program. Choreographers and rehearsal directors are now eligible to receive reimbursement for their training. In addition, the RQD has simplified and made more flexible some of the Program’s criteria in order to better respond to the current reality of dance artists. For example, local, national and even international online training programs are now eligible for reimbursement! As of April 1st, the RQD will be able to cover training for choreographers and rehearsal directors between December 1st, 2021 retroactively and June 30th, 2023.

See the updated terms and criteria.

Coverage of dancers in case of injury or accident

Performers admitted to the Dance Training Support Program are protected by the CNESST in case of an injury or accident that occurs during supervised training not governed by a work contract.

The terms and conditions of this agreement are set out under the Regulation respecting the implementation of the Agreement on the professional dance training program.

Please note that, for the moment, the CNESST does not cover accidents sustained during virtual training.

Also note that according to the Workers’ Compensation Act and the Agreement between the CNESST and the CALQ, choreographers and rehearsal directors will not, until further notice, be covered by the CNESST via the RQD in the event of a training injury, unless they are also considered as dance performers.

If you sustain a work accident during supervised training and you file a claim with the CNESST, please contact the RQD as soon as possible at info@quebecdanse.org.

Please make sure that you complete the Event Report attached to your file. Your application will be handled in strict confidentiality.

To know the procedure to follow in case of accident, consult our health and safety resources or our CNESST quick reference tool.
