Regarding COVID-19
Unless public health imposes new regulations, our training and professional development sessions this year will be offered in hybrid mode (both in person and online at our offices). Dance classes shall always be held in studio. Until further notice, there will be no strict protocols imposed.
Nevertheless, to protect your health and ensure your safety, the RQD asks that you respect the following guidelines:
- Avoid presenting yourself for a dance class or professional development session if in the previous 10 days you have:
- Had COVID-19 related symptoms,
- Been in proximity to a positive case of COVID-19,
- Are waiting on a COVID-19 test result,
- Have tested positive for COVID-19.
Please contact us if you have any questions regarding the above
- As much as possible, respect a minimal distance of two (2) metres between people on site, or wear a high-quality mask when physical distancing is not possible.
- Apply recommended hand-cleaning and respiratory hygiene.
- In the 10 days following your participation in a class or professional development session, please contact us if:
- You develop COVID-19 related symptoms,
- You learn that you have been in proximity with a positive case of COVID-19,
- You are required to test for COVID-19,
- You receive a positive COVID-19 test result.
Who can participate in RQD training activities and classes?
Access to training activities and eligibility for the subsidized rate are two distinct considerations. In order to benefit from the subsidized rate, participants must meet the criteria determined by Services Québec. For details concerning these criteria, please view the following section.
- RQD training activities and classes are geared primarily to dance professionals (artists, cultural workers, teachers, managers, designers, etc.), whether they are salaried employees, self-employed workers, people receiving employment insurance or social assistance benefits, or people without income.
- Professionals in other artistic disciplines can register for our training activities and classes if there are enough places.
- Recipients of employment insurance benefits, social assistance, job integration support or support for self-employment (e.g., wage subsidy, Young Volunteers, etc.) are also welcome to register for our training activities and classes. All they need to do is notify the agent responsible for their file of their intention to register.
- Students and temporary foreign workers can register to take part in RQD training activities and classes.
- It is not necessary to be a member of the RQD to participate in our training activities and classes. However, registration priority is given to members.
Who can benefit from the subsidized rate applied to training activities and classes?
Eligibility for the subsidized rate is determined in accordance with criteria established by Services Québec, and not by active member status with the RQD. If you have any doubts concerning your eligibility, please contact us.
- Any professional artist or cultural worker (self-employed worker, freelancer, salaried employee, person receiving employment insurance or social assistance benefits, or person without income) who is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and lives in Quebec can benefit from the subsidized rate, with the exception of salaried employees whose employer is subject to the Act to promote workforce skills development and recognition (an employer with a total payroll of more than $2 million).
- Part-time students canbenefit from the subsidized rate if they are employed or available to work.
- Professional artists or cultural workers in the rest of Canada are eligible for the subsidized rate if they are under contract in Quebec for a few months and if they provide proof of residence in Quebec during this period (an address).
- Temporary foreign workers are eligible if they hold a valid work permit (open or closed) at the time of taking an RQD training activity or class.
- Full-time students and foreign students cannot benefit from the subsidized rate. They are required to pay the full fee for our training activities and classes.
The following table summarizes the eligibility criteria mentioned above. Click on the table to enlarge it.
