Classe de maître et de répertoire Bangarra Dance Theater

Ateliers en collaboration avec Danse Danse
Baden Hitchcock et Tara Gower, les deux danseurs principaux de Bangarra Dance Theater enseigneront une classe de maître suivi de répertoire que la compagnie présentera lors de son passage à Danse Danse du 30 octobre au 2 novembre prochain.

est une organisation aborigène l’une des principales compagnies de danse australiennes et d’art du spectacle, largement acclamée aux niveaux national et mondial pour sa danse puissante, sa voix théâtrale distincte et ses paysages sonores, sa musique et son design tout à fait uniques.

Dirigé par le directeur artistique Stephen Page, Bangarra en est actuellement à sa 30e année d’existence, mais sa technique de danse est forgée à partir de plus de 65 000 ans de culture, incarnée par le mouvement contemporain. Les danseurs de la compagnie sont des artistes dynamiques formés de manière professionnelle qui représentent le summum de la danse australienne. Chacun a une fière origine autochtone, originaire de divers endroits du pays.

The company’s two lead dancers Baden Hitchcock and Tara Gower will teach a masterclass followed by some repertoire they are performing in Montreal Oct 30th-Nov 2nd, 2019.

𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐚 𝐃𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisation and one of Australia’s leading performing arts companies, widely acclaimed nationally and around the world for our powerful dancing, distinctive theatrical voice and utterly unique soundscapes, music and design.

Led by Artistic Director Stephen Page, we are currently in our 30th year but our dance technique is forged from over 65,000 years of culture, embodied with contemporary movement. The company’s dancers are professionally trained, dynamic artists who represent the pinnacle of Australian dance. Each has a proud Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background, from various locations across the country.

Biography | Tara Gower
Tara joined Bangarra in 2006. Highlights for Tara include recently performing in India and Japan for the 2018 International Tour along with London and New York over the past 13 years. Along with returning to her home in Western Australia to perform for her family and being nominated in Dance Australia’s Critic Choice Awards as Dancer to Watch.

She created her first choreographic work Nala, for Bangarra’s Dance Clan 3 in 2013 which later returned to Country, performing in her hometown of Broome on Cable beach. Tara has also appeared in the film Bran Nue Dae (2010) and in Dan Sultan’s music video for Under Your Skin.

Tara believes growing up on Yawuru Country has given her the strength to pursue her dreams into reality.

Biography | Baden Hitchcock
He joined Bangarra in 2017 as part of the Russell Page Graduate Program.

In 2015, Baden completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts in dance at Victorian College of the Arts, where he worked with choreographers, including Antony Hamilton, Lee Serle, Maria Randall, Lina Limosani, Rebecca Hilton, Jacob Boehme and Prue Lang.

In 2016, Baden performed in Antony Hamilton’s ‘Nex’ (Dance Massive) and was also a participant of the Indigenous Choreographic Residency at Arts House, Melbourne. He was selected to be apart of the Time Place Space Nomad Laboratory 2016 hosted on Wotjobaluk country and was also a delegate at the Water Futures conference as part of Asiatopa, where he collaborated with scientists and artists on how the arts can play a crucial role in sharing knowledge of sustainable water and land practices. He performed ‘Native Dignity’ in the Black & Bright Victorian Literacy Festival 2016 co-choreographed with Carly Sheppard and hosted by the Victorian State Library. In 2017 he choreographed ‘In the Absence Of’ for Yirramboi First Nations Festival supported by Public Art Melbourne.

He is a member of Short Black Opera company, performing in Deborah Cheetham’s ‘Pecan Summer’ 2014 and working on regional workshops and performances.
