Le Radeau
Le Radeau is a contemporary dance creation and production company based in Tio’tia:ke/Mooniyang (Montreal), co-directed by the artists Ariane Boulet, Dorian Nuskind-Oder, Nate Yaffe, and Catherine Lavoie-Marcus.
We are an organization dedicated to the expansion of choreographic art, in both its creation and its manifestation in the public sphere. Our activities include artmaking, offering support services to dance communities, teaching, and artistic outreach.
We research radical approaches to co-creation, seeking ways to decentralize ourselves as authors within the artmaking process. We value art that bobs and bends in the unpredictable waves generated by unconventional collaborations and mixing perspectives. Within this agitation, we activate a certain collective intelligence. In this way, our projects seek to create lasting dialogues between disparate communities within our city and beyond.
In addition to producing our individual artistic projects, Le Radeau creates a space for collective reflection. Together we question how to make dance at this moment in time; reimagining both our role as artists within society, and the ethics and aesthetics of our work. This critical conversation grounds us and emboldens us to take thoughtful artistic risks.
As co-directors, we share equal responsibility for the administrative and artistic direction of the company, while also benefiting from shared human resources in accounting, production, and communications. This horizontality in both the office and the studio allows us to embody values of sharing, solidarity, and collective action.
