Geneviève Dussault

Geneviève Dussault studied music and trained in several dance styles (Classical, Baroque, Renaissance, East Indian and Contemporary). In 1991, she obtained a MFA in dance from York University and, in 1996, she graduated as a Certified Movement Analyst from the Laban / Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies. Between 1984 and 2022 she thought at the Dance department of  Université du Québec à Montréal. In her practical classes, she integrates Laban dynamic principles with rythmic studies in an original way which can be easily adapted to various purposes. She also taught dance history and notation and movement analysis  Since 2011, with professor Nicole Harbonnier, she has been collaborating to research projects on movement observation-analysis. She also taught at the Music Faculty of Université de Montréal between 1990 and 1996. As a dancer and choreographer, she performed in Canada and Europe and received three grants for creation from the Conseil de Arts et des Lettres du Québec for Folies d'Espagne, Les Éléments and Duo. She also choreographed several operas for Université de Montréal and McGill University as well as staging dances for historical films (Marguerite Volant, Bice). Since 2013 she has participated as a performer in Sarah Dell'Ava's intergenerational creative projects (Oriri, Ori, O2, O) ***
